A Bright New Season Of Political Promises Poem by Terence George Craddock

A Bright New Season Of Political Promises

a bright new season of political promises dawns
all hail the new season of pie in the sky political promises
but post election do not expect a slice of promised pie
from Caesar not a slice not a bite not a crumb

post elections politicians time distance
themselves from election promises
from problematic promises politicians
run hide with sleight of hand scapegoat issues

the politician for the poor is neither your neighbour nor your saviour
expect politicians to pamper to luxury needs of extreme wealth rich
class rich a politicians friend can provide campaign contributions
the rich can provide opportunities tasty financial bait hook deals

politicians find no profit in poor working class struggles
problematic homeless ill health death squeals fade lifeless
support sought rich in pocket politicians need up sleeves
powerless poor homeless politicians treat like weeds
