A Broken Tale Poem by Rahul Singh Rana

A Broken Tale

Rating: 5.0

Today when I look back
Neither has time moved
Nor have I.
The day seems so near
Yet so far.

With wet eyes
I asked you
To stand by me
In times so turbulent.
I never made you smile
So, I do repent.
But, times change the tides
Sometimes it's the land
Sometimes the sea,
But, someone suffers.

I always fancied
You and me
Holding hands
Searching in each other's eyes
What isn't
What could be.
It's hard to digest
What you said.
It must be the sad you,
speaking so harsh.

How we went
We were just so near
Yet we moved afar.
It's not even a day
I don't dream
But, how can I pacify?
This weak heart?
How can I tell him
It's over
It's past
Which still is my present?

What can I say to my eyes
Which often hallucinate.
Sometimes I search for you
Day in and day out.
Then my mind shouts
At my weak heart
Let her live!
The voice commands,
My heart just sits
For a while.

It then runs again
Cause it's still you
And will always be you.
I was your culprit
I always was
I always will be!
