A Candle In The Dark Poem by Hazel Night

A Candle In The Dark

And the light danced in the darkness
It mocked it
Playfully
Whispering
Laughing

And the girl stared at my face
She wandered
Quizzically
Probing
Asking

Her eyes glittered when she smiled
She used to smile
Happily
Dancing
Gazing

She put her hand on my waist
She pulled me close
Wistfully
Crying
Sighing

I wish she would come back
I wish she would stay
But the light in the darkness
Will eventually fade away

Very nicely written verse about lost love, I read it again and again, sad and nostalgic with a note of surrender and acceptance in the end.10+
