A Change To Witness Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

A Change To Witness

Rating: 2.2

The world is changing fast
No one knows when it will last
There is no concern for proper food
But anxiety for disappearance of wood

Where is the poverty to be seen?
Everybody wants to be millionare and very keen?
No one wants to be left behind?
All billionaires and no poor to find

Human touch and value is lost
We are at pains to find its cost
Poor are here and rich also here
Same sky same air then what is to fear?

All norms are changed
Money exchanged skillfully and arranged
No one is caught accepting the bribe
Still we call ourselves citizens and not tribes

We are in primitive stage
Not grown with environment and age
Out to destroy basic values of life
Cutting the throats with sharp edge of knife

What have we gained or mastered?
Innocents are killed and slaughtered
Not a murmur or whisper is heard
Everybody is suspect who grows the beard

What is the compulsion behind to ferment the trouble?
Why life is made intolerable as water bubble?
Who knows what will happen next?
When nothing comes out of it as best

Do the high rise buildings appeal?
Does any wrong thought stand to be repealed?
Do we have any sense to stand for moral value?
Will we take it in real terms and prove very true?

No one is against any broad way of liberalization
No hatred against functioning of any organization
Is it creating suspicion in the minds free world?
Why mighty nations are dragging feet and developing the cold?

We have seen enough of blood on land
Still it rages on with clear stand
We may perish but do not succumb
We can be ruled but not with the rule of thumb

We are unsecured despite having arsenals
Truck loads of it are pumped through tunnels
There is unrest and people do suffer
What do we have as something to offer?

We are known cowards for centuries
Its brand and quality from time to time varies
We have complete apathy and do not rise
This is something new and does not surprise

We are still there as we were
We are intolerant and don’t fare
The domination and slavery still rule the mind
This drives the people to remain intolerant and unkind

What have we gained so far?
Peace but always at war
Burning from within but smile on face
The grand prix we are in for particular race
