Lost in a world of denial
that this could happen to me
our marriage was perfect
or so I thought
Years spent trying to take care of him
our home and our family
believing all the lies about working late
On my fiftieth birthday
the present I got was the news
that he was leaving me for a younger woman
A woman still in her twenties
with a body not changed by age or childbirth
no gray hairs peeking through that perfect blond
Now I am sixty five and she is forty
can you guess what she got for her birthday
the circle has been completed
