A Day Alone Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

It is astounding as to what can be done within the hours of one single day,
As there are some days which go by much faster than others,
Some take forever just to end!

Today, however, was one of the most productive,
I had much time to myself,
Spent majority of it revising topics which I enjoyed.

What a fun day it has been,
All that I have read and seen.
So fun although, it is time to sleep and my body is saying goodnight,
My hands still want to sit at the desk, looks at notes and write.

I miss this, I really do,
Such that I think I should spend more time on me and less on you.

Does that make me selfish?
Such that 'you' I can easily dismiss,
Much far to say all along I've been the one I truly miss.

It's a wonderful feeling self-love.
Such that without it, what is life really made of?

It is only when you begin to love yourself,
Do you realize the capacity you have to love another.

Sometimes I feel like I haven't discovered me,
As sometimes the things I do catch my own attention unexpectedly.

Here's to the days we have to ourselves and spend free.
