grave faces,
in the graveyard
of death.
gnawing the core
of heart.
with a sense of surrender
to fate.
ashen looks,
of near and dear ones,
time and again
waiting to see
the unknown to happen,
or awed, with the awareness
of the known.
anticipate anxiously,
for the strike
of the death knell.
yet i wonder,
what i am afraid of.
the death of, all i have seen
or the unknown death of me.
the future holds,
not a happy scape
of blooming days.
i wonder, what is the
length and breadth
of happiness.
why is man always unhappy,
both being two sides of the coin
is n't it true that,
we should face both,
with equanimity, and courage.
Ritty, you have written this with such sensitivity: - 'am I afraid of death of all, or the unknown death of me.' From time to time we ponder on what has death in store for us, but should we do this? For is it not in the future and the future never comes? Our lifes spirit our consciousness will always live. Our body dies, if I look at mine it not as pretty as when I was young, I am sure I will be happy to leave it. You write beautiful poetry Ritty. Love Bob
yet i wonder, what i am afraid of. the death of, all i have seen or the unknown death of me.... loved this part...looking at death makes you wonder about yours...but that should be a reminder that this life needs to be enjoyed by the minute...regards
Yes, amidst life there is death! But the' life force' is more powerful of the two! That is why life goes on repeating itself! Philosopher Henri Bergson called it- 'ELAN VITAL'! The Greek Philosopher Heraclitus said life is a continous flux and chage! So your imagery of two faces of the coin is true! -Raj Nandy
Very few people dare to ponder on such matters, as it gives them anguish. It seems that despite our claims of faith and belief, the uncertainity looms in our sub-conscious, perhaps in days to come we would be more certain and thus find the balance you describe, a thought provoking write, beautifully penned!
