A Fate That Awaits Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Fate That Awaits

Like it or not.
Nobody chooses life to live it,
Overdone.
With time to use they have saved.
And no one has been chosen to declare,
They had been given permission...
To have the moon rise.
Before the sunset came,
Adding color to the horizon.

No one has yet received delivered,
Choices to pick from...
In a sealed and personalized envelop.
To open then to know,
The best choice was picked.
And they need not cross fingers to hope.

Some may live less challenged than others.
And have no fears to face.
Of sliding down a slippery slope.
But there is one thing,
We all have in common.
A fate that awaits providing no escape.
One only God decides and evaluates.
The 'if' and the when,
We deserve to graduate to a next phase.
Some regard to call this place Heaven.
And yet,
Many who have already experienced hell.
Needlessly and unwarranted.
May be exceptions.
And given without judgement,
A free pass.
To enter through the gates of bliss.
For tolerating much ssshhh...
Stuff.
And making attempts to stop cussing.
