A Flower From Mumbai Poem by Francis Duggan

A Flower From Mumbai

Brown skin and dark hair with a smile on her face
A beautiful young woman of charm and grace
Her home City from here it is far away
The pride of Warrnambool is a flower from Mumbai

For one of her years so down to earth and wise
The sheer joy of life in her smiling brown eyes
She carries joy with her when walking the street
People like her are a pleasure to meet

People like she is joy to others bring
Her Indian accent is such a beautiful thing
An accent that is always pleasant to hear
The sweet tones of India easy on the ear

Since her loss to Mumbai is Warrnambool's gain
In south west Victoria hope she does remain
Perhaps in her mid twenties in her physical prime
Her sort the inspiration of song, story and rhyme

A wonderful ambassador for her Country and race
She always has such a sweet smile on her face
Of happiness with her she carries the seed
Of many more like her the Human World is in need

A nice all round person of her one might say
She greets everyone with a cheerful good day
In south west Victoria hope that she will stay
The pride of Warrnambool a flower from Mumbai.
