A Frabjus Find Poem by George Hunter

A Frabjus Find

The kitchen clock showed about fourteen hundred
And about that time I always wondered
At what to have for my daily meal
A necessity that was all too real.
Had made some chicken salad yesterday
Was really good, I’ll have to say.
Retrieved it from the old ice box
Where it sat beside some bagels and lox.
Spread it on a fresh sesame seed roll
Realized that I’d achieved my goal.
Now all I needed to erase my frown
Was a couple of beers to wash it down.
There were plenty of vittles, and I hate to grouse,
But as far as I knew, not a beer in the house.
Realized then I was all out of same
Drank them all up watching the old ball game.
I had squandered all of my money on food
Thought that that was really crude.
Remembered something in the back of my mind
And I doubled my search some beer to find.
Finally found some brewskies in a stash
That I’d hidden in case I ran outta cash.
I was glad I’d tucked those dudes away
Cause it’s quite a while till the next pay day.
So I quaffed them down and then I lay
Back in my chair to appraise the day.
Couldn’t find fault, so I’ll have to say
It was a frumptious, scrumptious, hell of a day
And I dozed off singing Kallou! Kallay!
