She is a free bird
Never to be kept
Behind bars and cages
To display her beauty and grace
The journey of a thousand miles
Begins when she flaps her wings
A journey to the unknown fields
In search for the bloom of spring
The woods and the river
Listens to her song
As she sings of merriment
A wondrous soulful hymn
Don't ever put her in a cage
For that will only bring her to tears
Dim her vision and weaken her wings
A prelude to the most tragic of endings
