Two little orphans,
Walked in the snow,
With lanterns bright,
Their cheeks aglow,
They looked up to the stars so bright,
And made a wish that very night,
I wish for love,
A family,
A precious life, that may wait for me,
I don't want gifts,
I just want warmth,
Of loving arms to take me home.
A shooting star that night did fall,
The following day,
They got their call.
The matron of the orphanage,
Had such wonderful news to give,
There are two loving families,
That have a home to spare for thee.
The little orphans cried with joy,
That very special girl and boy,
The best christmas gift like never before,
With someone to love,
Who could ask for more.

What a wonderful and sweet poem! ! ! This poem connects with me deeply— I was orphaned when I was 12 years old.

There were many winter nights just like the one described in your poem—until my brothers and sisters and I received a magnificent Christmas gift—a home with loving relatives! ! ! Thank you so much for sharing! Indeed, so true: who could ask for more?
