A Good Thing Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Good Thing

It ain't easy to get back,
What was given to have.
Thinking to replace it.
When something better comes along.
Discovering what looks tasteful,
Has a flavor not as strong.
As what was had now gone.

It ain't easy to get that back.
If it is known a good thing had.
Regretting to have passed,
That good stuff up.
Taken for granted the moment it came.
Now to not wonder,
Who it is to blame.

And left to sit feeling a fool,
About all of it.
To remember those words heard,
From one to have known...
The doing what you did,
Was wrong and stupid!
