A Home Still Remembered In This Mind Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

A Home Still Remembered In This Mind

Leaving this place for a home still remembered in this mind
so long ago, a place where a child could experience wildlife
of a forest on top of a mountain in New Jersey.

Living in a place of total nature, being intruders in a way
upon their paths, yet making sure that we didn't ruin this
beautiful forest because it belonged to them alone in reality.

Because of this forest, learning lessons of life that have
stood the test of time, now at sixty-eight years old, still
remembering those times with love.

Realizing that this mere poet has always been one with nature,
and being so appreciatively thankful and grateful to God for
a life of peace and serenity when a child.
