A Jewel One Wishes To Keep Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Jewel One Wishes To Keep

There is nothing more treasured,
For any human being...
Than to be respected and treated,
As if a jewel one wishes to keep.
Instead of disregarded as a fad.

And passed over in time...
Like a useless commodity.
Leaving so many today to walk around,
Feeling worthless and sad.
With their heads held down.
