A Long Way From Yesterday Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

A Long Way From Yesterday

It seems and feels as if,
We have traveled a long way...
From a yesterday.
That felt like decades.
Moving slow to go.
And even though,
That yesterday has gone.
Healing to mend,
From the affects it has caused.
May take many of us needing,
Smelling salts, slapped...
And even pinched.
To awaken from a coma.
Inflicted and made convinced,
A living in an alternate reality...
Was worthy enough,
To fight for its fiction.
Administered by those,
Now to discover as we awaken...
How easy it was,
To have our minds seduced.
By those crazed.
And...
All the clues were there.
To entertain,
A duping of our beliefs.
