A Longer Summer Poem by Namita Rani Panda

A Longer Summer

Rating: 5.0

This time the summer is a bit longer,
A bit hotter too
With Fani being the unexpected visitor
That disrobed the Mother Earth of her green cover
And crumbled the proud tall buildings and towers
Which can be compensated soon by donations
From government and various organisations,
Branches will be leafing
And new buildings and towers will kiss the sky soon
Life will as usual go on.
But can anyone see the ferocious echoes of Fani within
That devastated the hopes and dreams of many,
And left deep incurable suppurating wounds within?
Maybe it will take years together,
Only the love and compassion of dear and near
And unswerving hope can wipe one's sorrows and tear
And bring back in their life a ray of endless cheer.
