A May Beetle Squeal - Poem by Cody Conner

For the sun shows no mercy to the living and dead
A misleading truth is told in time
Young love satisfy
The stench of summer fills my lungs
The irksome heat, Eden to some
Is there a castle in the air?
An illusion of frigid wind to the contrary
Dreary grays along with somber black
Absurd at moment’s time
Due to the lack of Demeter’s tears and cries
Oh summer! Why be such a pestilent fool
Consistent clockwork year and year
For the sun shows no mercy to the living and the dead
a misleading truth is told in time
