A Modest Aspiration Poem by Jayatissa K. Liyanage

A Modest Aspiration

Rating: 4.5

If I do have the choice to become one
never would I choose to be the mightiest
of all mighty oceans on the planet

Nor do I ever dream to be the best
of all beautiful water falls on display
Shall not even aspire to be the greatest
among great ones in human race

But, most willingly grab the tiniest chance
to become a teardrop big enough to bathe
feet of the mother of flesh and blood
who, gave birth to a hero of our time
to boldly offer the life, for the nation

A Modest Aspiration

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Valsa George 22 May 2015

The freedom we enjoy is the result of the heroic struggles of thousands of men who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the country's freedom! The mothers who gave birth to these valiant souls are to be remembered and respected! Their tears are never wasted! A great tribute to the war heroes and their mothers!
