A Momentary Reprieve Poem by Oyekake Satty (O S) Joshua

A Momentary Reprieve

I am sold to His Cause
How can I choose another
When I know the other
Is subordinate to my Lord?

‘Tis foolhardy to choose
The lesser for a brief glory
When my tomorrows are sure
Of everlasting pleasures

Though my state now is weak
And my days full of austerity
Yet, I'll cleave to Him whose
Loyalty and promises are sure

So, I decline your offer
To take hold on this relief
This momentary reprieve
And forfeit eternal glories
