A Morning Thought Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Morning Thought

What’s for breakfast…eggs and ham?
Feeling uncomplicated and ordinary
Preparing
Toast topped with peanut butter and jam

Taste buds challenged from the start
Groggy…going through memory motion
Unconsciously…
Swirling sweetness like fantasy art

Recapping as lids are turned
Mismatched yet oddly compatible
Observing…
What have I unexpectedly learned?

Vastly unique yet the same
Appropriate order is exchanged
Comprehending…
Differences are labeled with a name

In a world of questionable acceptance
There are similar needs
Understanding…
There is no need for ambivalence
