A Mountain To Climb - Poem by Phil Soar

I climb the cliff of confidence
each day when I awake
I've never been that sure of things
and that is my mistake
I really should be positive
that helps to ease the brain
but my negative side just haunts me
and I've always been the same

Through mountainous areas of my life
I've struggled to compete
my lack of hope and self esteem
has knocked me off my feet
and yet I've managed to maintain
a sense of right and wrong
to get through my life with a welcome smile
and the sound of an occasional song
