A Never Goodbye Poem by Dakota Ellerton

A Never Goodbye

I stand in the dark
a knife in hand
tears rolling down
this time I'll do it
I'll slash and I'll stab
at the bond between us
permanently destroying it
I'll cauterize the strands
where the knife broke through
that will be the end of it
of us
I'll say goodbye
never talk to you again
never watch the moon with you
never fall asleep at your side
the last words
to leave my lips
will be pure and honest
a truthful lie
I need you

Note: Deticated to my friend Nicholas.
