A Nostalgic Lover's Tale Poem by Randy McClave

A Nostalgic Lover's Tale

I don't want to receive a text
Even though it's simpler and less complex
Nor do I want to be tagged or mentioned in a post
Then it would seen and read by most.

I wish that she would send me a note
Included with a passionate quote,
But, then as I think what would be much better
If she instead would send me an captivating letter.
If the letter that she sent were to be hand written
Of course my heart would then be smitten,
And before the letter was ever sent
Upon that letter she would have placed her scent.
She would then lick the flap and then kiss the stamp
Then when received, I would read it by my lamp,
Every word she'd write would be with a pencil or pen
Then in my heart, I would read it over and over again.
I would then take that letter with me to bed
So, again it could and would be re-read,
And then when I woke up early in the morning
I would never again feel like mourning.
I wish that she would write me a sensual reply
From that night that we met and when we both did sigh,
Everyday now I just sit and I wait for the mail
But, of course this is a nostalgic lovers tale.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Was watching some old movies and shows and I was thinking back when people wrote letters and notes.
So, I wrote this poem.

We can all dream, can't we? Gone are the days, I guess, when people would write love letters to each other. Sad.
