A Permanent Tattoo Poem by Oscar Benjamin

A Permanent Tattoo

Those days are over now
The days we used to talk and smile together
Dilly-dally and wiggle so we went
Therefore, we danced to the pleasing tone of the days gone by
We ran around and played
We played to the whispers of the wind
Breaking through hide and seek within our apartment
Until the wind of change unexpectedly swept over
The used to be glorious, joyous and brilliant moments disrupted
Hitherto they are empty scenes of the bygone era
Now a forlorn deserted island
Stood in place of what once was our sanctuary of love and merriment
Once was an embodiment of all happiness
Now stands a bunch of wilted and rotten logs
Shadows sounding screams
Portraits of horror
Fate had it its obvious way
Yet still memories of you remains
Memories of how you wanted it
How you did not want it
Moreover, how it all was with you
The memories keeps blowing
As of the wind that forever blows
Now I limp towards mine own destiny solo
Your own route already you have quietly taken
Still on my chest, you left your tattoo
A tattoo that can never be erased forever
You succumb to the way of the abyss
Does the soul know there are loved ones
And responsibilities not to be left behind
Of that I wonder to no end
Yes you have departed
A candle light in my heart
I shall light for you every day….
