A Poet's Heart Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

A Poet's Heart

A poet's heart is at its peak
When a poet can freely speak
Quietly in verse and prose
For a certain noble cause
Never to shout and shriek
Verses loaded with emotion thick

A poet's heart is at its peak
When a poet an idea they tweak
To make a different point
A sheep instead of baaa! goes oink!
Horses growing wings
Just to spruce up things.

A poet's heart is at its peak
When freely moving in the street
Observing the world going round
Writing whats really on the ground
Free of unwanted censorship
And meddling dictatorships.

A poet's heart is at its peak
When at the end of the week
They have written good poems
Someone reads and calls 'em
To say write some more and more
A poem moved them to the core

A poet's heart is at its peak
When a poem someone it reached
Made a difference in their life
Showed many are in similar strife
When person gives a testimony speech
A poet's heart is at its peak.
