A Pristine Veracity Poem by Adrian Flett

A Pristine Veracity

Cover your lovely face my sweet
don't act the hostess
to this legless mobile beast,
slow its exponential increase.

Masks cover mouth nose hide emoji faces
which leaves only the eyes,
the windows of the face, that never lie
to watch the virus spread over global space.

Wash your hands my love
approach the silent foe
with gown and glove
leave nought to chance's flow.

Sneeze in sleeve cough in elbow,
test track trace isolate, reduce to a creep
and restrain coronas' flow
limit its legless rapid leap.

Heedless driver strips bare flaws
of powerful people; agent to replace,
as a remote god watches; the cause
is no respecter of class colour or race.
