A Procession Of Lights Poem by Dean Meredith

A Procession Of Lights

Through the dark
A procession of lights
Like glowing ghosts
All in a long line
Punctuated by air
They float mesmerized
Along the ribbonous path
Still hypnotised in their
Seemingly endless trance
Of self-induced comas
Trying to forget
Those daily battles
With them as victims
Or murderers too
Turns are taken
One mile closer
Escape seems natural
A God-given right
Fine in spirit
But what of the bodies
Vessels we leave
In our wake
Selfless and giving
Yet unknowingly
Stealing away
Home they say
From mind's eyes
Through the dark
A procession of lights
