A Quiet Place Behind A Door Poem by Norah Tunney

A Quiet Place Behind A Door

Rating: 3.5

It's lovely to spend time
with family and friends,
as long as I have
a quiet place behind a door,
an empty space to come home to,
a quiet place behind a door
away from the babble of words,

here I feel the timelessness of eternity
and the richness of space,

words so full of time,
silence so timeless.

I am so glad to have read this. My family and friends no longer take offence when I embrace my own sweet solitude. I have this dream of being on an island alone as I wrote in my poem 'Crab shells and Kipling' Two palms, a hammock, my books and me. The sea birds circling, the rhythmic shore. The crystal milky way unveiled to see. Crab shells and Kipling forever more. The funny thing is people that do not know me believe I am an extrovert. By necessity and the need for an income I am involved with people. I do so as any civilized person should and make the best of it but given the choice I could go away for months at a time and be in perfect bliss. Just the thought of that is wonderful. As you know so well what may appear to be disengaging is actually the opposite. The timelessness of eternity and the richness of space should never be spoiled by the ring of a phone or the rude demands of a schedule. Wishing you countless hours piled high like pirate gold overflowing.
