A Raging Fire! Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

A Raging Fire!

I’ve written words of poetry.
It’s you on every page.
And when I found you loving them,
Then more writing I engaged.

The poems come now in hundreds.
And yes I’ve held your hands.
I’ve even stolen kisses,
But inside I’m still a man.

You’ve come to know me inside out,
Though this was never planned.
I need so much to love you more,
The way only two lovers can.

So won’t you take me in your arms,
And love me through the night?
And let the passion in your heart,
Be the only needed light.

I feel the poetry slowing down,
Because of great desire,
That burns within the core of me,
Just like a raging fire.

And if I can not have you soon,
I’m going to explode.
For the weight of unrequited love,
Is much too heavy a load.

A carousel of understanding
Is what’s needed here today,
To keep love’s fires burning,
So that I won’t ever go astray!
