A Rainy Night Poem by Hannatu Pqrs

A Rainy Night

The room is dark,
And this makes it all the more interesting
And graphic.
The windows are close by
And open.
The notes are unintelligible
And boring.
Outside,
The occasional lightening illumines
The silhouetted trees in the background.
These look picturesque: standing tall, firm and still;
Very still, in fact.
You might even suppose that
They were monsters standing stiff
With heads and limbs,
Meaning to attack you.
There is the intermittent rumble of thunder
And the rain is still falling
Against the concrete in the background.
You can hear it slowly receding, though.
Yet the most spectacular aspect of
The rainy night
Is the sky:
The clouds are beautiful
Against the seemingly purple background.
When illumined by lightening,
These look so aesthetic
So that you'd wish you were an artist
So you could paint every detail.
Oh how so lovely
When it rains at night…
