A Rebellious Heart Poem by Andy Brookes

A Rebellious Heart

I don't want to know what's a cliche
the right or words that are strong and tough
or those deemed not good enough, weak and bleak.
too rough, too off the cuff,
my creativity stifled by an algorithmic guru.

I don't want to strive for illusion norperfection
nor make an erection of a house of words
chosen by a complex series of ones and zeros
to look to or up to or be dictated to by clicks and whirs

to be something that is too logical
because feelings are not logical,
love and hate and joy and being,
are not made of ones and zeros,
hearts and brains are organic devices
not electronic ones
nor made of wires and metal attached to flat silicon chips.

So forgive me for wanting my freedom
to be old fashioned and out dated
but then poets have always and should always be rebels.
