A Red Rose From The Scarlet Pimpernel Poem by ENOCH JOHN

A Red Rose From The Scarlet Pimpernel

Rating: 5.0

Said a beautiful woman to the dashing horseman:
After you've crossed the Channel,
And saved another neck from the French guillotine,
Of the Revolution, on your return,
I want you to bring me just a red rose,
As a token of our undying love.

I wish you, therefore, Godspeed,
O Scarlet Pimpernel, for your secret
Will be held in my deep bosom.

Love can be so fleeting, even fragile,
But did you know that it can be as strong
as a roaring lion or even the mighty elephant?

Yes I know the hard riding, swasbucklimg
And brave man they call the Scarlet Pimpernel.
I love him so and he's bringing me a red rose.
