A Riot In Our Town Poem by Anil Kumar Panda

A Riot In Our Town

The sun is down behind
The buildings where from
Smoke of lost faith and
Back stabbing is changing
Color of the sky from pure
Blue to blood red

The check posts are closed
The culprits my not go away
With their knives and guns
Bags and pockets are being
Searched for bricks and stones
Buildings are in flames

No one is in a mood to hear
Sermons to maintain sanity
And hearts are turning into
Cinders of hate as a son falls
In the lap of his mother hit by
A stone the size of a bullet
