A Royal Passage Poem by SylvaOnyema (SUPER.T) Ubah

A Royal Passage

Royalty did not
Hide her humane heart

She was royal
In the eyes of the people
But loyal
To the service of the people

Indefatigable royalty

Royal ambassador
Worthy emissary

Amiable princess
Illuminating the world
Like a torchlight
Dazzling like a star
Shining bright like diamond

But in August,1997
Her beauty was arrested
By the cold hands of death

Cut off from humanity
Like a stem
Cut off from a tree

August visitor
Cruel visitor
Took her to oblivion
Our buckets full with mourning

O! Diana
Our Diana
Princess of Wales
Cherished princess of the people
Princess of the world
Sleep well Diana
