A Single Shot Poem by Jacob Andrew Jarman

A Single Shot

Rating: 5.0

a single shot whistled by
a single soldier falls and dies
a single silence shatters in
as he falls bone from skin

a single poppy
near a shallow grave
a paupers rest
for the brave

we were standing
at the gates
we were strangers
who share our fates
we were brothers
side by side
we were heroes
who will never die

A piece that exemplifies the bravery and courage of the many people in the armed forces.

When we remember the fallen brothers of the field, the soil drenched with blood and tears...An army of lions continue with full heart the battle for our survival....Your words are remembrance to the hero's that continue with our global struggle for peace......very well written....and thank you
