A Solitary Prayer Poem by Andrew Devin

A Solitary Prayer

If there ever comes such a time,
My soul takes delight in joys of life-
and my flesh is lost in the comfort of eyes,

I pray to you, O Lord, O God-
cast me away to the abandoned land of Hades-
where the sun may never shine,
and the darkness drink me with its wine,
But set me free from all those mundane thoughts,
I do not seek the just-unjust,
For where in lies the disparity-
The darkest beast
Or the gleaming sprite?

But let me not be a blinded dream,
Not a dropp of sea,
nor a grain of sand,
And let my every thought be I,
Hear this prayer, O Lord, O God.

As long as we are on this earth, the mundane thoughts will never leave us. This is a good prayer, God only can grant the wish. Well composed poem.
