A Something That Is Always Charming Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

A Something That Is Always Charming

And beyond all doubt
The beauty of countryside
That is so fascinating
The vale and the hill
Where flowers are blooming
The soft and gentle breeze
Over the meadows
And over the hills so sweetly blowing

There is a pond nearby whom
The villagers consider as sacred being
Visit morning and evening
And the streamlet that runs by
Allures all in its winding
And the day dawns
With the loss of stars on the horizon
Flooding it in seas of crimson

Oh lordly, the sun
How can we miss thy spell divine
Indeed a scene so refulgent
When evening descends
Lanterns twinkle
Like stars in every home
And my happiness knows no bounds
When I look at her

In half-lit sky and half-lit ground
Hiding in a corner of my home
And when sliding down the stair
I notice her
Oh! moon upon shine
For this home is mine
And when night knocks
Villagers greet her

With plenty of silence
Crowned with darkness
To them 9 pm seems midnight
And for the world rest
Time is not ripe yet
To say goodnight
Fancying this as sunrise
C*cks scream aloud

To say villagers
‘Get up my dear'
It is sun at your door so near
For c*cks are their clocks
And the day king tired of day's toil
Retired into west for a while
Preserving purple
Measuring approving time
To decide at what exact time
To shine in countryside……..

The pen-picture of village is vividly portrayed. It reminds me Keats' To One Who Has Been Long In City Pent. A good write.

A beautiful day in a countryside is alluringly caught in a lovely poem.... As the Sun withdraws after his day's work, the Moon comes in to lessen the darkness of the night.... Beautiful descriptions! Enjoyed! !
