A Song For A Conquered Race Poem by Abdul Wahab

A Song For A Conquered Race

Though each rising power has a fall
Yet how long some of the races of the world will remain conquered
I know each aspiration will rise and touch the land of the sky
Each ambition will reach to its destination in time
Yet how long some of the races of the world will remain without home
We may go without food, without drink
But how long races have to live without freedom?
We go to sleep and we rise again
But this time reason has come to let ourselves lose to achieve our dream
The dream to have a national flag on the top our house to fly
A national song to sing full throat
You all know, we are under a giant octopus
Bombs and bullets will not work
As it has hydrogen and neutrons
What we need to do is to awake their neurons
Or pray to god to stir their conscience
And tell them how long the races of the world will remain conquered
Give us back a portion of our land and take whatever you can
But please, please for God's sake grant us a state independent
And make us obliged to your 21st century ethics and morality.
