A Sprout For A New Season Poem by RIC BASTASA

A Sprout For A New Season

the drought dries the land
there is no rain coming yet
the grasses wilted
and the soil turns to dust
the winds are blowing
sadly

somehow the miracle comes
with running water
along the dikes of hope
and then the first seed of grass
sprouts
its bud looks around
gives a smile
to the cloud
and then sings the beginning
of a new season
