A Step Back Poem by Timothy Robledo

A Step Back

Wish I could take a step back in time cross all my t's dot all my i's. Wish I could take a trip back in time and close all my open doors. Wish I could take a trip into the future and see where I am going to be. I wish I could stop myself from making all the mistakes that are ahead wish I can stop all the mistakes from the past. But where would that leave me would I really be happy or a version of what I think happy should be. Would I have learned all that i know now? Would I know how to shut my heart to all the pain that comes my way? My version of perfect is not what I see around me is not the lives I see others live. My version of perfect is none other then the life I choose to live. I can not control what others may seem to think of what my life should be but I can control my perfect lil world. Life is not what other want u to live it's what u shall choose to do with your own life.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
G. Murdock 16 March 2010

I can't recall the artist, perhaps a writer, maybe a poet, who said: ' The conception is so vastly superior to the exhibition' There are some good lines in here and the theme is the great 'what if' The struggle is what gives us strength, the pain is what gives us feeling, knowledge gives us the road in front of us and that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. All of this I found in your poem. Let's drink to Flannery O'connor's short story from A Good Man is Hard to Find, The Life You Save May Be Your Own.
