A Stranger Poem by David Paradine

A Stranger

Rating: 5.0

I came upon a stranger
On a dark and empty road
Traveling alone was he
The darkness suddenly cold

Turning up my collar
To the harsh night air
I could only wonder
Who is this stranger here

Nodding as he passed
Not a word was said
Yet this stranger I knew
From a time thought dead

Turning as he moved on
To watch the stranger there
I found the road empty
Only darkness everywhere

Who was this ghostly figure
This apparition in the night
Perhaps a mere illusion
Now vanished from sight

I know not from where he came
Or was his presence real
Perchance a glimpse ahead
And my greeting there revealed
