Tomorrow Poem by David Paradine

Tomorrow

Rating: 5.0

Laugh as the fool
Be happy and gay
With no thought of tomorrow
For tomorrow is so far away

Sing and be merry
Singing as the lark
With no thought of tomorrow
For tomorrow is so dark

Drink till you drunk
And you head starts to spin
And the present escapes you
For your mind has been dimmed

With no thought of tomorrow
You've lived your big lie
But tomorrow is upon you
Now how will you hide

Brave utterances set aside for honest reflection. A work of an intricate mind.

This poem is really about trying to escape reality and the reality that you really can't.

I agree with Fabrizio below me David... It is a very interesting poem.. Btw, your use of 'abab' rhyme scheme is also good as it gives the poem a nice flow... Thank you for sharing...

''With no thought of tomorrow'' remember me those lines from 'Il trionfo di Bacco e Arianna', by Lorenzo de' Medici: ''..chi vuol esser lieto, sia: di doman non c'è certezza '' = there is no certainty in 'tomorrow', so be happy 'now' but then you say ''But tomorrow is upon you / Now how will you hide'' thus: if you want to be happy 'now', then you have to accept what you'll get later.. ;) thanks for sharing ciao
