A Suicide - Poem by Sumantra Ghosh

Here I am
On the precipice
My cell is waiting still
For your call

The moon looks like a splendid hall
Flamboyantly decorated but empty
Her beams caress me as if in a dream
(A lovely scene for a poet may be
Though it cannot melt my stony heart):
The misty gorge reminds me
Of a chaos before before birth.

Here… right up on the hill
My cell is waiting still…
