A Sweet And Savory Dance Poem by Raymond J Wright

A Sweet And Savory Dance

When I’m with you
I see stardust and wishes and
Sapphire moonbeams...

The product of your love
Performs a sweet and savory dance upon my tongue
... And yet I want more
I am inside you, and with each thrust
You offer a vermillion prayer of submission
... Still I need more
I crave your surrender and your obedience...
Just as I live for your defiance, your strength, your vitality

Stardust and wishes and sapphire moonbeams
Azure skies and salmon sunsets
Burgundy, Chianti, Syrah
Bleeding Hearts and Scarlet Salvia
California Poppies, Painted Daisies and Fuchsia Dianthus
Opalescent butterflies dance in your wake...

...Waves of the deepest blue
Crashing upon your velvet shore
Golden raindrops sparkling in your hair
Neon lightning glowing upon your pirate smile
And in your endless hazel eyes

You are my sweet and savory dance

You are my surrender and my defiance
I am the product of your love

On initial reading, I thought 'stardust' was a little cliche, but you then had so many other colourful and original images in this poem - I loved 'vermillion prayer', 'salmon sunsets' and that whole verse...a great read.
