A Thanksgiving Finale Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

A Thanksgiving Finale

Missing from the table are familiar faces
Family characteristics renew their traces
Youthful laughter has a recognizable ring
Silent flashbacks stir carefree reminiscing

Another Thanksgiving has just passed by
Remaining are portions of foil-covered pies
Servings await dollops of whipped cream
Refrigerated leftovers have a turkey theme

The elongated dinning room table is vacant
An empty mood dominates over the jubilant
Innate forces guided me to old family videos
My son and I view and listen to the audio

Comfort fills the room with an aura of light
The television illuminates smiles in the night
As the last minutes of the past fade away
We mentally blow loving kisses to yesterday
