A Thing Of Natural Beauty Poem by Francis Duggan

A Thing Of Natural Beauty

The beauty of Nature in the prime of the Spring
And the beautiful song that the goldfinches sing
You hear them once and you will know them again
Their twittering notes in your memory remain,
To sing about Nature is always a joy
I have been a fan of her since i was a boy
Though that is going back some five decades ago
And little of her ways i still seem to know
Were i born a poet of Nature i would write
The brightness of day and the darkness of night,
The grey shrike thrush is whistling on the wattle tree
Her amazing beauty is all around me
And the goldfinches sing on the powerlines nearby
A thing of Natural beauty is a thing of joy.
