A Tour Of Ucol. Poem by Michael Walker

A Tour Of Ucol.

Rating: 5.0

A lecturer greeted me
for theheritage month tour
on which I was the only guest.
I soon found out
she lived in the past like me.
She took me past building after building
which housedclassrooms.
The buildings lookedearthquake-proof.

We looked in at a few classrooms.
'What would I study at UCOL? ' I wondered.
Chef? I already cook well enough.
Carpentry? It's easier to buy furniture.
Photography? I already click the kodak.
Sports training? Weightlifting is too hard.
I.T.? I'm barely computer literate so maybe.'
I was only day dreaming.

We went upstairs to the sunny second floor
and the cafe. 'You could dine here, '
she said kindly. We went downstairs
to a modern glass-fronted building
which housed the hairdressing salon.
'You're welcome to get haircuts here, '
she said, 'at low prices'.
I think I'll accept the offer
of a new stylist.

Michael, Sounds like a lovely day, time to enjoy the cafe, and a haircut to boot! ! ! The lecturer-guide sounds like pleasant company. I wish I could have joined you for the tour..

It was well worth making the effort to join a heritage tour. Everything went well. The guide was good company too.

Your lecturer-guide greeted you and this is a great news really. The sunny second floor invited you. Universal College of Learning experience is amazingly expressed in this poem.10

You are right. UCOL is for school leavers and other young people who want to get qualifications for work. Obviously, I could not seriously think of enrolling there. Wishful thinking.

My lecturer-guide greeted me she lived in the past like me. She took me past heritage buildings.... //.... Re-living and enjoying the nostalgic past is so rewarding and enriching experience. This is not an armchair travelogue but is a live guided tour. I appreciate it. Thanks.

Thanks for your endorsement. As we walked around the guide kept referring to notes about the city's history, when the heritage buildings were constructed. I don't mind living in the past either, and I recognize a kindred spirit.
