A Trip To My Inner Self Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

A Trip To My Inner Self

From earth I've covered a thousand mile
My busy schedule I've left behind
To have a word with my soul
To be sure of the path I need a growth
A trip to my inner self
The region where I was derived

Was there a time I failed to win?
When was the period my woe begin?
Why was life unfair to me?
My conscience please speak to me!

Here I've canvass my soul again
My thought, actions, sense and brain
And all the inhabitants of my heart
To know the cause of my gain and regret

Speak my soul so I can learn
This isn't a time to cast a blame
Was it my eyes that is the cause of my flaw?
Could it be my mind that led to my fall?
Where were you oh my soul?
When many flee from wrong in pursuit of growth
Why allow unworthy strangers in?
To desecrate my entire being

Those period unlived
Who will account for it?
Those act ingenuine
Would it ever delete?
Those opportunities ruined
What was the reason for it?

A trip to my inner self
A region where I dwell.
