A Vision Of Love As A Brown-Eyed Threat Poem by Raj Dronamraju

A Vision Of Love As A Brown-Eyed Threat

A lot of time and effort is spent describing blue eyes
When hazel eyes are a lot less obvious but a lot more powerful
Flecks of disturbance pool within like a river made brown and furious by a storm kicking up

I feel your hard work staring back at me
Cannot accept my sense of humor
Cannot accept my needing you
Cannot accept my understanding of my own lifespan

Hazel eyes like a cataclysm viewed from space
Points of fire flare up then burn out quickly
You give me the quick explosion and you elbow me in the stomach
You yell my name between swear words

No one tells of the pain hazel eyes inflict
That stays with you and nags the nerves with whining hyperactivity
Pinprick punishment is what you call these outbursts
Hiding out from her overcast eyes in valleys of the victimized
